Distinctive Unit Insignia

Description
A gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height consisting of a black cogwheel showing three cogs between each of three evenly spaced crimson flames, one pointed up, issuant from a gold bomb in center; below the cogwheel on a gold scroll, between the two lower flames the motto SEMPER IBI in black letters.

Symbolism
The gold bomb with three flames represents the units participation in three campaigns in Sicily and Italy during World War II.  The cogwheel is symbolic of the maintenance and supply function of the Battalion.  The motto translates to Always There.

Background
The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 19 August 1966.
